We both grew up in the food business; both sets of parents owned and operated restaurants, Jacqui's in Bogotá Colombia and Tim's in Toledo Ohio. As a young adult, Tim also farmed in Ontario with extended family. "Good Food" is in our DNA!
My Grandpa and Grandma started Schmucker's Restaurant in 1948 when my Dad was a teenager. For the last 18 years, my brother Doug has run the family business. A traditional diner, it continues to offer hearty home-made meals and delicious pies. This week is its 70th anniversary. They are celebrating with a 1948 menu and prices, and donating 70% of proceeds to a local charity. Even though I moved away at age 19, I am proud. We are proud of our families' "Good Food" traditions.
In three years Schmucker's Fresh From The Farm will celebrate 25 years. How shall we mark that anniversary?
